Barry is a co-founder of PURDYLUCEY. Barry has a primary degree in Biochemistry from Trinity College Dublin, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Food Science from University College Cork.
Barry has over 20 years experience advising clients on Intellectual property matters, including four years as an in-house patent counsel in Unilever and six years as a senior attorney in a UK private practice. During this time, Barry has advised clients in relation to cases before the European Patent Office Boards of Appeal and Enlarged Board of Appeal, and the UK High Court.
Barry specialises in patent drafting and prosecution, and intellectual property transactions, in biotechnology, life sciences, food science and medical devices. His areas of expertise include patenting human therapy and biomarker-based inventions, functional food ingredients, tissue engineering constructs, and diagnostic reagents and devices, and advising clients on patent infringement and validity matters. His portfolio of clients include Irish Universities, Irish and US Medical Schools, and Irish and European SME's.
Barry is a European Patent Attorney, a Chartered UK Patent Attorney, a Registered Irish Patent Agent, a Community Trade Mark Attorney, and a past member of the European Qualifying Examination (EQE) Committee.
