As a trainee Patent Attorney, you’ll help translate complex engineering ideas into intellectual property protection, working on real inventions that shape the future of medical devices and advanced technologies.

We’re interested in candidates with a strong academic background and a genuine enthusiasm for innovation and problem-solving. Applications are particularly encouraged from graduates with degrees (or higher) in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related disciplines.
We also welcome applicants from other fields, including biological sciences, chemistry, biotechnology, electrical or electronics engineering, computer systems engineering, ICT, and software engineering. Applications are open at graduate, master’s, and PhD levels.
Training as a Patent Attorney is demanding but immensely rewarding. We’re looking for individuals who are analytical, detail-oriented, and collaborative — with a willingness to learn and a drive to see projects through to completion.
Successful candidates will work towards qualification as Irish, UK, and European Patent Attorneys. To prepare for these examinations, trainees receive in-house tuition and mentoring from our experienced Attorneys, as well as access to external revision courses. No prior knowledge of patent law is required.
These roles are based in PURDYLUCEY’s Dublin office, with some hybrid working available.
