Barry Purdy is a co-founder of PURDYLUCEY and a highly experienced European, UK and Irish Patent Attorney with over 25 years in the profession. Barry is also an Irish and European Trade Mark and Design Attorney. He holds a degree in Natural Sciences from Trinity College Dublin and a postgraduate diploma in Food Science and Technology from UCC. His clients include global food multinationals, Irish and European SMEs, tech start-ups, and major universities in Ireland and the US.
Barry has particular expertise in supporting biotech, medtech, and materials science companies at all stages of development. He works closely with founders and investors to shape tailored IP strategies — from reviewing patent landscapes and freedom-to-operate issues to managing international patent portfolios. He also advises several investment funds on IP due diligence and risk.
Barry is recognised in IAM Patent 1000 and IP Stars.
When not advising clients on IP, Barry likes to spend time with family, dog, and friends. He plays guitar and piano and was once a member of a rock band that “toured the world and beyond”. His rock and roll days have been curtailed, but he still enjoys the very occasional dip back into that world.
